Show Your brand the love it deserves… Questions to ask when starting a branding project

Why Branding? 🤷‍♀️

Clients come to me with a common request- I need a new logo. Or we want to make our logo look better. Hey - that’s a great place to start when you want to show your brand some love. Sure, a logo is important. But your brand is more than just an image that represents your business. It’s how you represent your unique personality, how you portray yourself professionally, the quality and relevance of the visuals that you use and they story they tell, and how you attract your target market.

Your business needs a branding system that will be versatile for all print and digital applications. You will need to make a great impression, and top-quality graphic design and branding will represent your business, express your unique personality and offerings, and attract new customers. The right graphic design services will:

  • Grab the attention of your audience and stand out to give you a unique presence

  • Inspire confidence among your clients, team and the community

  • Project an image of professionalism and quality both online and offline

  • Convey the vision and values of your organization

What are your Goals and Objectives?

When I work on a branding strategy process with a client, we start at the steps before the logo. I help them to explore the foundations of their business. Then we work to grow your story, with all the elements that entails, and make it shine. It’s important to know what you hope to achieve with new or renewed branding. And this starts with doing a deep dive into your business.

Some steps we keep in mind and determine during the process:

  • Know yourself - What story do you want to tell?

  • Know your audience - Who do you want to tell your story to, and who is listening?

  • Build a bridge - How will you tell your story? What tools do you need to tell it? What action or response do you want from your story

  • Make the connection - Show up in a cohesive, consistent way that establishes recognition. Think about - How might your story change or grow?

Your logo should reflect who you are now, how you want to be perceived, and who you want to be in the future. If your current branding isn’t serving your business or organization, it’s ok to let go!

What if I already have a logo that people know?

Let's talk about logo redesign... If you're not feeling the love for your logo anymore, are you stuck with it forever because you have already established your brand? That would be a no. There's nothing wrong with a brand refresh from time to time. Many famous brands restyle, or even start over. Just google logo redesigns for major corporations and you will get the idea. A logo can give a viewer the impression that your organization is polished, contemporary and professional or conversely, outdated and amateur. Your brand is more than your logo - it's the story and feeling you have created around your business or organization.

If you promote your logo redesign launch, and make an effort to establish your new branding with your audience, then it's a win because it's one more way to communicate your brand message and connect.

What is a Brand Refresh?

I usually encourage my clients to do a full brand exploration, even if they have an existing logo that they like. Sometimes we determine that you need a brand refresh.

“A brand refresh is a makeover for your organization… Think of it like a personal makeover ... a better haircut, up-to-date outfit, and new shoes that transform how a person is perceived. It's the same with your brand. A refresh can keep or update recognized visual elements. Or a new look, tone and presentation of the overall style will bring fresh recognition. A brand refresh maintains a visual connection to how the brand identity was seen before. But the "new suit" makeover is up-to-date, vibrant and designed for today's audiences. - Source creative.co
